Whenever I'm asked to tell others about myself, the first thing I hear in my mind is *cricket, cricket*... However, I'll do my best to give you a little slice of me:
Name
Macey Lynn Chronister - I just go by Macey
Home
Klamath Falls, OR. - About 20 minutes north of the California border. No shopping, hardly any entertainment, but it's the only home I've ever known so I love it!
Family
My parents have been happily married for 28 years. I have an older sister who is 25 and an older brother who is 27 and married. When I leave in September I will say goodbye to my 1 month old neice we are expecting in July :) The support and encouragement of my family means the world to me and is such a blessing in my life!
The Education
I just finished my first year of college at Oregon Institute of Technology. I am majoring in Business Management with emphasis in Entrepreneurship. We'll see how long that lasts, though :)
Work, work, work
I've worked at a pizza place for almost two years. I also occassionally work as an office assistant at a wound clinic in the hospital. Things I've learned from this experience: health professions are not for me!
Hobbies
* I love sports - playing, watching, coaching, whatever! And volleyball if I get to chooose, please.
* Choir was one of my favorite high school activities and I sing on the worship team at church.
* I love to read in my spare time, but please, stick me in a silent room by myself or else I get distracted way too easily.
* Quadding with family and friends around the mountains by my house.
* Scrapbooking is always a hit.
* I don't watch a lot of TV but I am a movie buff.
If my life were a fruity drink, you might find the following facts on the inside of the lid:
- Vaccuums scare me.
- I'm a bit of a health nut.
- The only time I've traveled away from the West Coast was to England to play basketball.
- An iced soy chai with caramel is my favorite drink in the world. Could I live off of those alone?....
- My high school graduating class had 25 people
- A day at the lake or in the mountains with my family = perfect.
- I am a country music FAN.
- Bucket List: swim with dolphins, sky dive, visit Australia, hold a baby chimp (cute!), attend the summer Olympic games, roadtrip across the country with friends
Previous Missions Experience
None, really. I've done smaller outreaches with my youth group, but nothing of this magnitude. So thankful that God is the one leading this adventure and not me!
My Heart
I like to play it safe. Those who know me probably wouldn't label me as the risk taker. That's why I'm still shocked that God has placed this burden on my heart - but I'm sooo glad that He did :) This past year has challenged my faith in God more than ever before in my life. I know He's called me to give my every fear, dream, talent and desire into His hands to use for His glory here on earth. But honestly, I didn't want to. Silly little me, I thought I could just give over half of that list and call it good. However, this last year I've learned that that wasn't good enough. Not for me. Not for my King who adores me and thought enough of me to create me in His image.
I have no idea what to expect on this trip. None. I've given myself fully into the hands of God and said "Bring it on" to the tasks that He has laid out for me. I admit a part of me is a little afraid. I know it won't be easy. I know I'll feel uncomfortable. I know at some point I'll cry because I miss the comforts of family and friends. But I'm so tired of hiding behind these comforts and using them as an excuse to be lazy in my walk with God and what He has called me to do! I am beyond ecstatic to share His love, the only perfect love, with the broken lives and hearts in India, and I praise God in advance for the way He will use those same lives to teach me more about Himself.
