Hi, my name is Heidi Couturier.
I am from a little town called Cedar Springs which is located on the west south side of the Mitten! This state is also known as Michigan. :) Cedar Springs is about 30 minutes from Grand Rapids but it’s nothing like the “big city”. You’ll find a lot of rednecks in Cedar and we are famous for our Long underwear. Seriously, we hold a parade every year in celebration. It’s pretty funny. Despite how hill billy-ish it can be, it’s great and I love it here.
As far as school goes, after graduating high school, the Lord put it on my heart to leave the little town here in Michigan and travel to Tulsa Oklahoma to attend Rhema Bible Training Center. Rhema is a two year Bible school that was started by Kenneth Hagin. As I entered my first year there I learned so much about God and who He is. I was stretched in all areas of my life and He changed me forever. For my second year there I focused in on Children’s ministry. And I now have the wonderful opportunity to apply that daily.
I should have you know that Rhema is also known as Rhema Bridal Training Center. It’s a joke because so many people meet their spouse there. My first year there God brought along my path a very nice young man by the name of Colby Cullum and now we plan on getting married. :) So, the name is pretty honest.
While I was down at school I worked as a waitress at a Bar BQ place called Rib Crib as well as a clothing store, Marshalls. I’d pick the serving job over retail any day. Now that I graduated just this year from Rhema I am back in Michigan where Colby has followed also for the summer. We are working at a camp called Pine Ridge Bible Camp. Here we have the wonderful opportunity to serve the Lord and minister to children and teens for 10 weeks through the summer. Colby and I both serve as cabin leaders and lead the campers in morning and nightly devotions. We also have the privilege of leading kids to Jesus Christ to where they will never be the same again. YAY!!! We challenge them to dig into their Bibles and seek the Lord for themselves and go home to overflow on everyone around them. Not only are the campers challenged spiritually but they get to do all sorts of physical activities. I have worked here at this camp every summer now for the last seven years. I started out cleaning and plunging toilets, moved onto to washing hundreds of dishes and then into a cabin leader. Every summer God shows me and teaches me more and more!
On my free time (what’s that again?? lol). I enjoy playing the piano, trying to sing, and hanging out with family and friends. I also enjoy the nature very much, so biking, hiking, camping, and that sort is a blast. Especially if I am doing it with someone I love. :) I also like to cook and bake!
Some random things about me are
- I love COLD York Mint Patties
- I hate eating raw Cauliflower because it squeaks in my teeth and tastes nasty
- I would like to go sky diving
- I want to adopt two kids some day
I have never been on a mission trip outside the United States. However, I have been to Louisiana to work on a house and minister to the people at “tent village”. I have wanted to go on a missions trip for a long time now so I am very excited about this opportunity to Goa India! God is going to do amazing things at Rehab’s rope. I am just a little nervous because of the length of the trip but other than that I am super excited! God has great things in store and I am eager to see how He is going to use me to touch lives in India. I am ready to be stretched and used mightily by God. I'm ready to never be the same!
I can’t wait to meet all of you and get to know you better.
I'm sorry this took so long to get put up, I have never blogged before, so this is completely new for me.
