You will have to excuse my lateness with this blog. I rarely am in one place for long and my last stop had no cell service and pretty much no internet connection.
To my team - I just want to start by saying say that I am so incredibly excited to meet all of you and spend three months together living and growing in community. Each of you are beautiful and cherished women of God that will make an impact for Christ this semester by sharing His love. Know right now that each of you are going on this particular trip, at this particular time in your life for a reason. Our Jesus makes no mistakes with where He places us. Ever.
So just a few random things about me.
-I'm realizing that I am addicted to God. I sometimes think I've seen the depths of His love, but soon after realize that there is always more.
-My name is Rebekah, but most call me Beks. I'm also known as Dawn Treader.
-Yes, I do love C.S. Lewis
-It's always confusing for me when people ask where I'm from. I was born in MA but have lived in Ohio longer. I've moved close to 20 times by now and I haven't stayed in one place longer than 2 1/2 months for the past 2 1/2 years so its complicated as of late. For the sake of brevity I usually pick a state I've been to based on how I feel that day. Occasionally I just claim the open road.
-The excitement of the unknown partnered with the knowledge that Jesus has a plan to use me is one of the most beautiful things in the world.
-I love notebooks. But I judge them based on the texture and smell of the paper.
-There are not enough good pens in the world. But when I find one, I keep it till the ink runs out.
-I am the oldest of four. (one sister, two brothers) I love my siblings dearly.
-Cutting my hair at random has become normal.
-I've held many different jobs including being a barista for almost four years. (I didn't like coffee till after I stopped working there. lame.)
-There is a running list in my current journal of all the jobs I would like to hold. Some of those include high-rise-window-washer, and mailman(mailwoman?)
-I can find beauty in any day and firmly believe that the adventure begins when your plans end.
-Some days I decide to speak in accents and make those around me join in. There is your warning. Start practicing:)
-I love to knit and will probably bring some with me.
-My 26th birthday is on October 21st (don't be jealous, you know October is the best month out there) And I wouldn't be opposed to blue, skittles, purple, dancing, or yellow on that day.
-I was on the World Race August '09 J Squad and it wrecked my life for Jesus.
-I believe in creation and play as forms of praise.
-The world we live in is chock-full of "happys" as I call them. Falling leaves. Trees. Sunlight on water. Snow. Reflections of the sky in mud muddles. Mud. Grass. Color. Music. Rainy days. Violin. Dancing. Christmas lights. Purple. Babies. The list goes on but I'm sure you get the point.
Wherever you are right now on your journey toward this trip, remember that Jesus has a plan. Even if it seems like everything is going crazy. I am, and have been praying for each of you. Continue to seek Him as you prepare to leave and above all, listen to what He is saying. Our time together in India is going to be life-changing and you will not come back to the US the same person that you are now.
love.
